Ultradome

Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia, who plays Peter Petrelli in the hit NBC show has been talking about his latest venture Ultradome.

Ultradome will be a web-based project which allows "geeks" to pit their favourite films or film characters against one another in hypothetical battles. It's a similar concept to Spike TV's Deadliest Warrior where different combatants from throughout history are pitted against each other, like pirate versus medieval knight for example.

In Ultradome contestants will have the opportunity to test whether Darth Vader, for instance could beat Gandalf in a battle to the death. Ventimiglia is co-producing the web show with Russ Cundiff, and both producers are lined up to appear in the first episode where Ventimiglia will be backing the George Lucas franchise Star Wars against Cundiff's favourite The Lord of the Rings.

Ventimiglia told The Hollywood Reporter:

"My whole life has been spent engaged with friends in intellectual debate ... like whether Captain Kirk is tougher than Spock or if Middle Earth is a more difficult place to live than Tatooine. With 'Ultradome,' we can bring these debates to the public and settle them in the most logical way possible: through armed combat."

Ventimiglia and Cundiff are hoping to launch their project this summer, and hopefully we might eventually answer that age old question ~ do you think Mighty Mouse could beat up Superman?

Interpol Step In To Save Albinos

The international police organisation Interpol has been drafted in to aid Tanzanian authorities combat the increasing risk of ritual murder to albinos living in the country.

Talking exclusively to Tanzanian newspaper The Citizen Director of Criminal Investigations, Commissioner Robert Manumba told reporters that there was evidence that the recent spate of albino murders involved international criminal gangs dealing in albino body parts in several African countries.

As reported previously at The Morningstarr*, Tanzanian authorities are clamping down on the vile and sadistic craze of killing albinos to produce voodoo fetishes from their bodies. Last month black magic witch doctors in Tanzania had their licenses revoked by the Government to discourage the horrific practice. Now police from neighbouring countries Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo are assisting Tanzanian police in their efforts to bring the rogue albino slayers to justice.

"We will stop at nothing, and we are going to make sure that we follow this issue up until the last perpetrator is apprehended," said Commissioner Manumba.

It is thought that Tanzanian albinos are being murdered to supply a much larger market which includes several other African countries where the same mistaken superstitious beliefs are found. Many seemingly backward people across Africa believe that albinos have magical powers and are viewed as lucky charms to be harvested. Albino people in Africa are even referred to as "sope" which means “something magical inhabited by powerful evil spirits”. Sexual intercourse with an albino is considered to be a cure for HIV by some superstitious Africans, but now the witch doctors are prescribing albino body parts for many different ailments which has caused the number of albino rapes to fall and numbers for murderous mutilations rise drastically. The figure now stands at over 40 brutal albino slayings in the past 12 months.

This isn't the first time Interpol have acted in Tanzania in this manner, several years ago they conducted an operation to stop similar ritual murders where people were skinned to death.

Bright Orange Dog Poo

Community wardens in Weston-super-Mare, affectionately known as "dogshit police", have started an awareness campaign which involves colouring dog excrement bright orange.

The "You've Been Tangpooed" campaign aims to highlight the dangers of rubbing dog crap in your eyes. Every year over 100 people go blind from toxicariasis, a parasitic infection that's caught when people play with dog mess.

The wardens who are working on a number of sink estates in Weston have the power to give people on the spot fines if they allow their dogs to foul the area with their dirt. As a warning the wardens are patrolling the area and spray painting any shit they find bright orange, rather than picking it up and protecting children.

If any child is somehow compelled to play with a dog turd, surely a bright orange one will be far more enticing? And obviously easier to spot.

Doctors Plan To Remove Parasitic Twin

Doctors in Zambia are preparing to operate on a nine month old baby who has a parasitic twin attached to it's buttocks.

18 year old Mercy Lenganji gave birth to little Faith Mwampe in April last year. Faith has an unformed parasitic twin emerging from her backside, and doctors fear she will be unable to walk or lead a normal life unless the unfortunate sibling is surgically removed from faith's bottom.

Mercy had been expecting twins after a scan during pregnancy revealed two fetuses, but unfortunately when Faith was delivered the true horror was apparent.

Mercy told reporters that Faith's father has only visited once.

"Faith's father Martin Mwape took one look at his daughter and has never come back and I am sure this is because of her deformity." Mercy said.

"My friends laughed at me when they saw my child. But that does not bother me now because I love my child and I am so hopeful of this operation that I am not going to think about their opinion." She added.

The Zambian Government have also abandoned Mercy and Faith, the family are having to cover the expensive cost of the surgery themselves.

Prof Mukonge from the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka who will be performing the operation is very confident of the outcome.

"Once we operate on the child we expect her to make a complete recovery. This surgery is to improve the quality of Faith's life as she ages and of course, even though it carries risks, we expect full success.

"We anticipate that this will be the only major surgery that the child will ever need and even though the operation is long and complex, there will hopefully be no complications.

"As soon as Faith has recovered from the operation we will put her into a rehabilitation programme and that is where the real work will begin." He said.

A Palestinian surgeon has been giving details of the horrific injuries sustained by civilians in Gaza since the latest fighting broke out. Dr Ahmad Yahya, who is a professor of neurosurgery at El Arish Hospital says he is shocked and appalled by the gruesome injuries being inflicted on the Palestinian people by Israeli Defense Forces and their new weapons.

Dr Ahmed is cataloguing the horrific injuries such as babies being shot in the head, babies with broken spines due to being thrown by shell blasts. People burned to the bone by white phosphorus, nail bombs causing brutal injuries and a new phenomena micro pellets which leave no entry wound but cause fatal internal injuries.

According to the professor micro pellets enter the body in large numbers and destroy internal organs such as the brain and lungs.

“You can’t find the entry point because it enters by very small holes in the skin,” he said.

Because the surgeons can't find the point of entry they have great difficulty diagnosing the extent of the injuries and controlling the bleeding.

“I am a professor but I have not seen or read about this before. Papers and literature on war injury don’t mention these,” he said in an interview yesterday.

Dr Ahmed spoke of the appalling injuries caused by the Israeli forces using white phosphorus, which is outlawed by the Chemical Weapons Convention. The incendiary is used in grenades and thrown into houses to clear them. If it comes into contact with flesh it burns relentlessly.

“It does not stop burning until it vanishes. So it eats the skin, the muscle even the bone. You can’t repair the wound and the limb must be amputated. You cannot find anything to repair,” Dr Ahmed told us.

The professor even reported that Israeli forces were using nail bombs that explode sending dozens of nails flying through the air, and human bodies. One man lost his penis through a nail bomb wound, Dr Ahmed claims.

“We had a man in his 30s with this nail cutting into his leg and entering his testicles and penis and out the other side. He lost his penis,”

Dr Ahmed, who is often reduced to tears in front of his colleagues due to the ghastliness of his work, has decided to photograph each and every horrific case which comes into the hospital so it can be presented as evidence in any war crimes investigation.

“I want to send it to any lawyer to take action against the killers who are killing civilised people. They are not soldiers. They are civilians. They have no arms, no anti-aircraft weaponry. They have only guns and hand-made rockets. What can that do?” he said.

Dr Ahmed finished his interview with this chilling warning to the Israelis.

“But in the future we will take our account from this. People will not forget this,”

Decapitation Suicide

Tadeusz Szewczek, a successful Polish businessman has killed himself by attaching one end of a length of wire rope around a fence post and the other end around his neck then speeding off in his car at top speed.

When the rope reached full tension Szewczek’s head popped off like a cork leaving a champagne bottle, and reportedly “bounced” down the road towards his horrified wife Malgorzata.

Szewczek was thought to be having marriage difficulties, and waited two hours for his wife to return home before carrying out the bizarre suicide.

Malgorzata Szewczek is being treated for shock. The condition of the car is unknown at this point.

A man left in a coma after being attacked with a charm bracelet was miraculously cured after drinking his wife’s urine.

23 year old Saheed Tijani from the Agege area of Lagos in Nigeria got into a dispute with a work colleague, Kabiru Olabie, over a pair of pliers. Kabiru Olabie, who is commonly known as Bin Laden, pulled a charm belt on the unsuspecting Saheed and struck him with it.

It is reported that Saheed immediately fell into a deep coma, a direct result of being struck by the charm and a clear indication the charm was a magical weapon. “Bin Laden” was duly pounced on by the rest of the workshop staff and received a severe beating which was only prevented from becoming a full blown lynching when a passing policeman intervened.

The gathered crowd’s attention then turned to helping the poor unconscious Saheed, fortunately an elderly member of the group suggested that inviting Saheed’s wife to urinate in his mouth would reverse the ill effects of the charm. Saheed’s wife Alimat was summoned to the scene of the crime and without hesitation squatted over Saheed’s face and urinated in his mouth. The moment the urine passed his lips Saheed miraculously sprang back to life, and the crowd cheered with joy.

Saheed was then taken, along with the charm and “Bin Laden” to the local village leader, or Baale. “Bin Laden” then confessed that the charm was indeed responsible for causing the coma, and also told the Baale that nine pieces of alligator pepper were also required to fully treat Saheed and return him to full health.

The alligator peppers were gathered and administered, and “Bin Laden” signed an undertaking that Saheed would suffer no further ill effect for the next five years.

Then everyone returned to work happy that the event was behind them.

In 1997, The Lancet published a study of three 'zombies', it was reported that the researchers found the first individual to have a severe psychiatric condition called catatonic schizophrenia, which can make a person mute and immobile, the second to have brain damage and epilepsy, and the third individual, a severe learning disability. They added that such people are commonly seen wandering in Haiti and it is possible that belief in zombies became part of Haitian culture as a way to explain the medical condition of these mentally ill individuals and to integrate them into society.

Wade Davis, an ethnobotanist who has studied zombie culture in Haiti tells us that zombies are in fact created by Voodoo priests who are members of the Bizango secret society, which he explains as an hidden other government beneath the surface of Haitian society. Zombification is not random nor for profit or personal vendetta but is the ultimate punishment to someone who has seriously violated the law of the Bizango society. Davis has controversially argued that the chemical tetrodotoxin, obtained from the puffer fish, is the primary active ingredient in "zombie powder". It is also his claim that the powder alone cannot adequately account for nor make a zombie. Davis describes the "set and setting" which is required for the powder to work. 'Set' is the individual's expectation of what the drug will do to him or her, 'setting' is the environment, both physical and social in which the drug is taken. Thus the poison in the powder, which is a psycho-active drug will have different effects depending on who one is and what one's expectations are. In the case of Haitian members of the Bizango sect, they have been socialised to recognise the possibility and process of zombification and are psychologically attuned to the appropriate effects of the drug, i.e. zombification. Zombies are created when a person first falls into a death like trance which is both drug and culturally induced then is revived and kept under the control of the houngan by the use of other drugs.

If Davis is correct in his findings then it is clear that the Bizango sect are somewhat reliant on the people of Haiti being open to suggestion. It reminds me of a time that two lads I know got another one pissed on Appletise by telling him it was cider, he believed so much that he was drunk that he left his car in the pub car park over night and called a taxi to get home. If that's possible on the spur of the moment, I can well believe that stories about zombies and zombie powder that have been passed down from generation to generation have indeed had a great deal of effect. It poses the question, what if someone where to go along and tell them they'd been brainwashed? Would they look upon us as we do those who hang around town centres shouting 'The end is nigh'? or would something more sinister happen?

Israel and the middle east is a problem that is not going to go away and eventually will affect everyone in the western and Arab world.

The Israelis claim they are fighting terrorists intent on the destruction of their State, well the Israelis certainly know the benefits of a well timed terrorist attack. Because of Jewish terrorist activities in British Government Palestine in the late forties, most notably the blowing up of a wing of the King david Hotel in Jerusalem, (engineered by Menachem Begin, who later became the Israeli Prime Minister).

The British turned the problem over to the U.N. where the Soviets and Americans hammered out a solution and forced it upon the Arabs.

The solution was to divide Palestine to create a Jewish State on the Mediterranean coast. So on the 14th of May 1948 Israel declared independance.

As you can imagine this did not sit well with their new neighbours who promptly invaded Israel.

The Israelis with Soviet military equipment retaliated and pushed the Arabs back and in the process conquered western Galilee and parts of the Negev desert.

The U.N. negotiated a ceasefire in January 1949. By this point Israel's boundaries exceeded those that were assigned by the U.N. partition.

That was a brief history of the beginning of Israel and as can be seen Israel has more than a few skeletons in it's closet. It is interesting to note that the Israelis consider terrorism to be the most evil of acts yet their country was founded through terrorist activities. There is a word to describe that kind of behaviour hypocrisy. Yes I said hypocrisy. The Israelis are hypocrites.

I do not support the activities of Hamas but they do have a right to exist and if the israelis can get a country through terrorist acts then why not Palestine?

Whether the Israelis or you and me like it or not Hamas is the democratically elected government in Palestine. There was no foul play in their elections and they were voted in legitimately. So if the Israelis truly want peace they are going to have to work with Hamas to bring it about.

A good starting point would be to give back the land they have stolen during the last 60 years. Hang on though, I hear someone cry, haven't the Israelis handed the gaza strip back to the Palestinians? Yes they have and it's a step in the right direction. They only have to give the other 95% of the occupied territories back and peace may be a possibility.

Israel says there will be no peace as long as palestinian suicide bombers continue to blow up Israeli civilians. That is all well and good but i suspect the suicide bombers will stop as soon as the missile strikes, air raids and sea bombardment stop. To my mind all are as bad as each other because the outcome is the same for each, ruined houses, cafes, schools etc and a lot of bits and pieces of what used to be people. It seems a bit pointless to argue about the method of delivery when the outcome is the same.

What about the religious problems that divide the two countries? The only problem as I see it is that they both use religion as a means of justifying their political acts. If they were a rational, peaceful people as they claim then they would be able to use religion as a basis for friendship. Yes they both have different faiths but they could be used as a point of discussion, they could pool their collective knowledge to gain a greater understanding of God, the universe and everything in it. Instead it is used as a tool to breed hatred and misunderstanding. Isn't religion a wonderful thing?

In summary, Israel started it in the middle east and only Israel can end it. Unfortunately they cannot see it.
